Mumbai: Milky beauty, Tamannaah Bhatia has summoned by Maharashtra Cyber Cell, her name been linked to an illegal streaming of IPL matches over an online platform.

The case is related to alleged promotion of FairPlay’s subsidiary app, associated with the Mahadev betting app, amidst an ongoing investigation into illegal IPL match streaming.

Sources reveal that the actress has been summoned by the Maharashtra Cyber Cell to provide testimony in relation to the case and is scheduled for questioning on April 29. Similarly, Sanjay Dutt’s name has also emerged in connection with the matter, and he was previously summoned for interrogation but sought a rescheduled date due to prior commitments.

The Maharashtra Cyber Cell has directed Tamannaah Bhatia to appear for questioning regarding her alleged involvement in the illegal streaming of IPL 2023 matches through the Fairplay App, which purportedly resulted in substantial financial losses for Viacom. Likewise, Sanjay Dutt, summoned earlier, deferred his appearance, citing overseas commitments.

Both Tamannaah and Sanjay are allegedly linked to endorsing FairPlay’s subsidiary app, connected with the Mahadev betting app. Furthermore, it’s reported that over 20 influencers who promoted the FairPlay app across various platforms are also expected to be summoned for testimonies.

The illegal IPL streaming case originated from a complaint filed by Viacom18 in September 2023, alleging violation of their Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) by the Fair Play platform, resulting in financial losses exceeding Rs 100 crore. Subsequently, several celebrities, including Badshah, Jacqueline Fernandez, and Tamannaah, were called in for questioning. Additionally, in December 2023, an employee of the betting app was arrested in connection with the case.
