Mumbai: A police spokesperson revealed that on a recent Saturday evening, a disturbing event occurred on a Mumbai suburban train traveling from Dadar to Andheri. During the journey, passengers intervened to stop a man, identified as 34-year-old Noor Ahmed Sagir Ahmed from Kamathipura, who was reportedly harassing a 15-year-old girl.
The incident came to light when the girl, who was accompanied by her father, alerted those around her that Ahmed was making inappropriate contact with her. The fellow passengers took immediate action, subduing Ahmed and later turning him over to the authorities at Andheri railway station.
Following the altercation, Ahmed received medical treatment at Cooper Hospital before being taken into custody. According to the police, Ahmed has a history of similar offenses and drug use. At the time he targeted the young victim, she was on her way home on the Dadar-Borivali train after a hospital visit in Parel.
The police have formally charged Ahmed with molestation among other serious charges, including violations under the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, the police spokesperson added.
