The Mahindra Group has launched an internal investigation after Biju Janata Dal (BJD) MP Sulata Deo alleged that one of its employees threatened her with rape and murder on social media. The company reiterated its “zero tolerance” stance on intimidation, harassment, or threats, promising strict action if the claims are proven.

In a statement on X, Mahindra said, “We have been made aware of highly inappropriate and undignified messages allegedly made by one of our employees towards a political leader. We value human dignity and uphold an environment of respect. An immediate inquiry has been initiated, and if allegations are validated, stern action will follow in line with our code of conduct.”

Deo shared screenshots of the threats, identifying the sender as Satyabrata Nayak, an employee of Mahindra’s Nashik branch. She further alleged that Nayak is associated with the BJP. In a Facebook post, she tagged the Prime Minister’s Office, writing, “If a woman MP is openly threatened with rape and murder, imagine the situation for underprivileged women of Odisha.” She also accused senior police officials of ignoring her complaint.

The incident has triggered strong political backlash. TMC MP Sagarika Ghose called the episode “shocking and unacceptable,” highlighting growing violence against women. Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi condemned the threats and urged central intervention. BJD MP Sasmit Patra termed the attack “an assault on democracy’s dignity,” stressing urgent action to ensure women’s safety.
