
Malayalam actor Dileep Shankar found dead in hotel room, police probe underway
Malayalam actor Dileep Shankar was discovered deceased in his hotel room in Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday. The cause of death remains unclear, and an investigation has been launched. Dileep checked into the hotel on December 19, according to local media reports.
During his stay, Dileep reportedly did not leave his room. His co-stars, concerned after being unable to reach him by phone, went to the hotel and requested the staff to open the room. There, they found Dileep’s lifeless body.
Dileep Shankar had reportedly been in Thiruvananthapuram for the shooting of the TV series Panchagni. The show’s director informed police that the actor had been dealing with a severe illness, though details of the illness have not been disclosed. It was also mentioned that Dileep had been undergoing treatment for the condition.
The police have begun investigating the incident, with a forensic team set to examine the hotel room. According to the initial police assessment, no signs of foul play were found. “There are no indications of unnatural causes. The exact cause of death will be confirmed after the post-mortem,” a police source told The New Indian Express.
Dileep Shankar, originally from Ernakulam, was a well-known actor in Malayalam television. He had featured in popular serials such as Amma Iriathe, Panchagni, and Sundari.
