A man named Ganesan, who had been evading arrest for 24 years, was apprehended on Tuesday for threatening and robbing a street vendor, Kannan, of ₹100. The incident occurred when Ganesan, then 20, held the vendor at knifepoint in Thirumangalam. After being released on bail, Ganesan failed to appear for his trial, resulting in a non-bailable arrest warrant. With the case lingering for over two decades, authorities finally tracked him down near Kilpauk Medical College and took him into custody.
