A 25-year-old man from Tumkur, Karnataka, was arrested by K K Nagar police for robbing a Good Samaritan who had offered him help out of compassion.

Noorul Ameen (39), a resident of Tiruvarur, had come to the city in early April to renew his visa. While staying at a lodge in K K Nagar, he encountered a man outside who claimed to be jobless and stranded after losing all his belongings. Moved by his story, Ameen agreed to let the stranger stay with him for the night.

However, the next morning, Ameen woke up to find both his mobile phones missing, along with ₹500 in cash and Saudi Riyals worth ₹5,000.

Following his complaint, police traced and arrested the accused, identified as Nanjunda Gowda, on Sunday. He was produced before a magistrate and remanded to judicial custody.
