In a tragic incident, a 45-year-old man died after choking on a piece of meat during a feast in Mahabubabad district.

The deceased, identified as Banoth Bichcha, was a resident of Gudoor mandal and had hosted a dinner for relatives attending the local Durgamma festival at Pilligundla Thanda village.

Sudden choking during feast

According to reports, the incident occurred while Bichcha was eating during the gathering. Those present noticed that he was struggling to breathe and immediately rushed to help.

They found that a piece of meat had become lodged in his throat and attempted to remove it. However, their efforts were unsuccessful.

Rushed to hospital, declared dead

Bichcha was quickly taken to the nearby Gudoor Community Health Centre, but doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation into the incident.

Choking risks often underestimated

Medical experts note that choking incidents can turn fatal within minutes if the airway is blocked. Prompt first aid measures such as the Heimlich manoeuvre can sometimes help, but immediate medical attention is crucial.

Need for awareness

Such incidents underline the importance of cautious eating, especially during large gatherings, and awareness of basic life-saving techniques among the public.

Authorities continue to probe the case while urging people to remain vigilant during similar situations.
