A 40-year-old man named Hanumanth tragically died of burn injuries on Saturday after accidentally falling into a fire pit during Muharram preparations in Karnataka’s Raichur district.
The fire pit was part of a ritual setup for the religious observance. According to Lingasugur Police, Hanumanth fell while making arrangements for the event. Though he was rushed to Lingasugur Government Hospital, doctors declared him brought dead due to the severity of his injuries, ANI reported.
This unfortunate accident has cast a shadow over the local Muharram commemorations and raised questions about safety protocols during religious rituals involving fire.
Meanwhile, in a separate Muharram-related mishap in Darbhanga, Bihar, one person died and 24 others sustained injuries due to electrocution. The incident occurred when a part of a tazia procession came in contact with a high-tension wire in Kakorha village under Sakatpur Police Station.
Authorities in both states are investigating the incidents, and appeals have been made to organizers and communities to prioritize safety during religious events.
