A man allegedly died by suicide after jumping from the 16th floor of a residential building in Greater Noida West, police said on Tuesday. The incident occurred at Paramount Emotions Society and has once again brought attention to rising mental health concerns in urban residential communities.

The deceased has been identified as Shatrughan Sinha, a native of Patna. According to preliminary information shared by the police, Sinha had been unemployed for several days and was reportedly under mental stress due to frequent domestic disputes with his wife.

Incident reported from high-rise society

Police officials said the incident took place when Sinha jumped from the 16th floor of the building. Residents of the society alerted the authorities immediately after the incident. A police team reached the spot, took custody of the body and sent it for post-mortem examination.

“The exact circumstances leading to the death are being verified. We are speaking to family members and residents and examining all relevant aspects,” a police official said.

Probe underway, stress factors being examined

While initial inputs suggest personal and domestic issues may have contributed to the incident, police said no conclusion would be drawn until the investigation is complete. Statements of family members and neighbours are being recorded to understand the sequence of events and the mental state of the deceased.

The incident comes close on the heels of another suicide reported in Greater Noida earlier this month, when an engineering student jumped from the fourth floor of his hostel building on January 23. The back-to-back incidents have raised concern among residents and mental health professionals alike.

Need for mental health support highlighted

Residents said such incidents underline the importance of timely emotional and psychological support, especially for individuals facing unemployment, financial stress or family discord. Police urged people experiencing distress to seek professional help and support from family and community.
