A tragic incident unfolded in Gangapur village of Rebbena mandal, where a 50-year-old man, Gundla Prakash, died by suicide after allegedly facing harassment from a local Sub-Inspector and two others over a loan dispute. The incident, which took place on Thursday, came to light on Friday.

Prakash reportedly consumed pesticide, distressed over pressure from Sub-Inspector Chandrashekhar and two villagers—Pandirla Madhunaiah and Madipelli Laxminarayana Goud. He had earlier borrowed ₹1 lakh from a woman named Sony in the same village.

A suicide note, recovered from Prakash’s home, detailed his anguish. In the note, Prakash accused the SI of intimidating him with threats of falsely implicating him under the SC/ST Atrocities Prevention Act. He also mentioned Madhunaiah and Laxminarayana, holding them responsible for driving him to take the extreme step.

Appealing for justice, Prakash urged Superintendent of Police DV Srinivas Rao to take strict action against the trio. Meanwhile, Sub-Inspector Chandrashekhar has refuted all allegations made against him.

Authorities are continuing the investigation, and the case has sparked outrage over misuse of authority and loan recovery practices.
