A 31-year-old man, Akash Kanojia, who was falsely apprehended in connection with the Saif Ali Khan stabbing incident, says the wrongful detainment has shattered his life. He lost his employment as a driver, had his arranged marriage canceled, and now faces social alienation.

Kanojia was taken into custody in Chhattisgarh on suspicion of involvement in the attack but was released after police confirmed he had no link to the crime. However, by then, his photograph had spread across social media, tarnishing his reputation. He has demanded that all platforms erase his image, warning of legal action if ignored.

Expressing his anguish, Kanojia questioned whether authorities would have acted similarly had a wealthy or influential person been in his place. He described the experience as deeply traumatic, leaving him with an overwhelming sense of fear and injustice.

His father, Kailash, slammed the police for acting hastily without verifying facts, stating that the ordeal had mentally and emotionally devastated his son. He lamented that their family’s dignity had been irreparably damaged.

Meanwhile, Mumbai police maintained they had only detained him for questioning based on suspicion and insisted there was no procedural lapse. The real attacker, a Bangladeshi national, was later captured and remains in custody.

Kanojia now fights to reclaim his dignity and urges authorities to prevent such injustices in the future.
