NEW DELHI: The disappearance of 56-year-old Ravinder Kumar from Rajokri in early June initially baffled Delhi police. The mystery deepened until Uttarakhand police recovered a body from a ditch near Kotdwar on June 5—soon confirmed to be Kumar’s—exposing a calculated murder allegedly orchestrated by his wife Reena Sindhu and her lover, Paritosh.

Investigators uncovered a complex web of betrayal, marital rift, and property greed. Kumar, who earned around ₹1 lakh monthly from rental properties, was planning to sell a high-value Moradabad property to clear an ₹18 lakh debt after being convicted in a cheque bounce case.

Kumar had married Sindhu despite a 20-year age difference. Sindhu ran a physiotherapy clinic, where she met Paritosh years ago. Their illicit relationship reportedly evolved into a deadly conspiracy. With rising tensions between Kumar and Sindhu, the duo allegedly hatched a plan to eliminate him and seize his assets.

On May 31, Sindhu convinced Kumar to attend a party at Paritosh’s house in Nagina, Uttar Pradesh. After getting him drunk, the two allegedly killed him by striking his neck and chest with a spade. They then transported the body in Kumar’s SUV—first to Ramnagar, then Kotdwar—where they dumped it near Dugadda. The SUV was later abandoned in Noida.

Initially treated as an accident, the case turned when an autopsy revealed two broken ribs. Technical surveillance, CCTV footage, and a slip in Kumar’s pocket pointing to a Haridwar guesthouse helped crack the case. Both suspects have now been arrested.
