A major fire broke out at Jindal Poly Films’ warehouse in Igatpuri, Nashik district, during the early hours of Wednesday, leaving two employees injured with leg burns. Both were promptly rushed to a hospital in Nashik for treatment.

The Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) Fire Department confirmed there were no casualties, but the fire caused significant damage due to highly flammable raw materials stored inside the warehouse.

According to NMC fire brigade chief Sanjay Bairagi, the fire alert was received at 1:55 am, following which three NMC fire tenders were dispatched immediately. In total, nine fire engines from various agencies, including Mahindra & Mahindra, Bosch Ltd, and Igatpuri Municipal Council, joined forces to control the raging fire.

Despite relentless efforts, the blaze continued to spread throughout the day. NMC fire officer Kishore Patil, present on-site, stated that complete extinguishment may take time due to the intensity of the fire and nature of stored materials.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. This is the second such incident at the facility, the previous one in January 2023, which claimed three lives. Ironically, just last week on May 12, the company had announced a ₹700 crore expansion at the Igatpuri plant to include new BOPP, PET, and CPP lines over the next 2–3 years.
