A joint raid by the Kolkata and Bihar police uncovered an illegal firearm manufacturing operation disguised as a food plate factory in Munger district. The operation was based in the basement of a residence owned by Mohammad Monazir Hussain, who was arrested along with his brother-in-law, Mohammad Nasim. The police also discovered a secret underground chamber where firearms were being produced.
The raid, carried out by the Special Task Force (STF) of Kolkata Police, Bihar Police, and personnel from Tarapur Police Station, resulted in the seizure of various firearm components, including six 7 mm pistol bodies and matching pistol butts. The factory contained machinery used for manufacturing firearms, such as lathe, milling, and drilling machines, along with other essential tools and materials.
The operation, which also involved an associate named Irshad Mallick, marks the 14th such bust in Bihar and Jharkhand in the last three years. Hussain and Nasim were arrested, but Mallick remains on the run. Authorities have registered a case and are investigating possible connections to larger arms trafficking networks.
This incident follows a similar bust in Bihar last year, where an arms manufacturing unit disguised as a furniture shop was uncovered in Gaya.
