Lucknow: Bahujan Samaj Party Supremo Mayawati has announced that her party would not tie-up with the Congress in any state, on Tuesday, March 12.
The announcement came after her meeting with top BSP leaders this morning.
It may be recalled that the two major regional parties of Uttar Pradesh- BSP and Samajwadi Party, the one time arch-rivals have buried their rivalry and formed an alliance in the state in a desperate bid to keep the BJP away from power.
Mayawati in January had announced an alliance with the SP (with Akhilesh Yadav by her side) and said that the BSP had never got any benefit from its tie-up with the Congress.
But, many say that the BSP Supremo was upset with the Congress specifically over the seat sharing arrangement before the Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan elections.
With the BSP and the SP striking off a possibility of an alliance with the Congress, one may have to wait and watch what will happen to the big dream of a ‘Mahaghatbhandan’ or the grand alliance of the regional parties.
