A 23-year-old MBA student at the College of Agriculture in Pune has died after suffering an electric shock from a metal water cooler on campus, triggering protests and raising serious safety concerns.

The deceased, identified as Chaitanya Kundalik Chavan, sustained the electric shock at the student-run co-operative mess. He was immediately hospitalised and remained under treatment for 10 days before succumbing to his injuries on Tuesday.

Following his death, a large number of students staged a protest on Wednesday, demanding strict action against those responsible. Protesters have called for the suspension of four officials and a comprehensive audit of all electrical systems on campus.

College authorities have stated that a committee has been constituted to investigate the incident. Officials assured that appropriate action would be taken based on the findings of the inquiry.
