In Bhavnagar, Gujarat, two interns from a government medical college were allegedly kidnapped and assaulted by their peers and a senior over humorous Instagram posts and their role in college events, according to police reports.

The victims, Ishan Kotak and Aman Joshi, filed independent complaints stating that tensions had been brewing due to disagreements over convocation planning and sports management. They claimed their batchmates were displeased with decisions they had made.

Joshi reported that late at night, a group of fellow students barged into his hostel room, forcefully took him away, and subjected him to multiple slaps, verbal abuse, and threats to his life. Meanwhile, Kotak recounted that he was lured out of his room under false pretenses, forcibly placed in a vehicle, driven around, and physically attacked.

The alleged perpetrators were angered by jokes shared on an Instagram page created for lighthearted content. Both interns claimed they were humiliated and intimidated.

Based on their statements, the police registered FIRs under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for wrongful restraint, physical assault, public indecency, and actions intended to incite violence.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have yet to take any suspects into custody. The incident has raised concerns over campus safety and student conflicts in medical institutions.
