A case has been filed against two men who were seen standing on the rear crash guard of a moving taxi on the Outer Ring Road in Bengaluru, an act that has left social media users shocked. The incident, which occurred on February 8 between 10:30 am and 10:45 am, was captured by a passing motorist who posted the video online, tagging the city traffic police.
In the video, the two men are seen standing on the crash guard for nearly a kilometre while the taxi speeds along the road. The police, upon reviewing the car’s registration number, quickly traced the driver and the two passengers involved.
The driver, identified as 21-year-old Kariya Manappa from Yadgir, was arrested and later released on station bail. The two men standing on the crash guard, who are said to be his friends, were also traced. However, no formal action was taken against the car’s owner as all the vehicle documents were in order. “The driver was booked for rash driving and endangering others’ lives, while the passengers were simply warned after they admitted to doing it for fun,” said a police officer.
The FIR was filed based on the reckless behavior witnessed, and the driver faces charges for endangering public safety under section BNS 281. The video has sparked a conversation online about road safety and responsible driving.
