Mumbai: A day after meeting between former Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut sparked speculations, the former clarified that it was not a political meet.
Devendra Fadnavis, on Sunday said that Sanjay Raut met him to discuss his interview in Shiv Sena mouthpiece, Saamana.
“Sanjay Raut ji wanted to take my interview for Shiv Sena’s newspaper Saamana. The meeting was held to discuss the same as I had put certain conditions, I wanted it to be published unedited. No political talks held in meeting,” Devendra Fadnavis said.
Maharashtra BJP chief spokesperson Keshav Upadhye too has denied political angle to the meeting.
“Sanjay Raut wanted to interview Fadnavis for [the Sena mouthpiece] Saamana and this meeting was to discuss how to go about it,” he tweeted adding that Fadnavis had promised an interview to Raut after returning from Bihar poll campaign.
Meanwhile, Raut has questioned if it is a crime to meet Fadnavis.
“When I interviewed Sharad Pawar, I had announced that I have planned interviews with Fadnavis, Rahul Gandhi and Amit Shah,” Raut claimed.
