Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday inaugurated the Yellow Line of Bengaluru Metro Phase-2, connecting RV Road in the south to Bommasandra in the east. Spanning over 19 km with 16 stations, the project cost around ₹7,160 crore. Operated by the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL), this extension will significantly enhance urban transit.

Alongside the inauguration, PM Modi laid the foundation stone for Phase-3 of the metro network. He also flagged off three Vande Bharat Express trains from KSR Bengaluru Railway Station at noon, marking another boost for regional connectivity.

Passenger services on the Yellow Line will begin Monday, initially deploying three driverless trains running every 25 minutes, with frequency expected to improve. Operating from 5:00 am to 11:00 pm daily, fares will follow existing Bengaluru Metro rates, between ₹10 and ₹90 for a one-way trip.

The Yellow Line increases the city’s total metro coverage to over 96 km, easing congestion on major routes such as Hosur Road, Silk Board Junction, and Electronics City Junction. Key stations include RV Road, Jayadeva, Central Silk Board, Electronics City, Infosys Foundation, Huskuru Road, and Delta Electronics Bommasandra.

PM Modi’s visit included a road journey from KSR Railway Station to the RV Road (Ragigudda) metro station to experience the new corridor. Authorities expect the project to benefit thousands of commuters daily, offering faster travel and reduced road traffic.
