Karnataka Minister Rahim Khan, addressing the fallout after the Pahalgam terror attack, slammed the BJP for announcing the suspension of the 1960 Indus Waters Treaty. He stressed that halting water supply to Pakistan isn’t an overnight decision, saying, “It takes 10 to 20 years — you need to build dams and canals. It’s not immediate.” Rahim Khan urged the BJP to present practical solutions instead of grandstanding, assuring that both the nation and the Muslim community stand with the government for effective action.
Labour Minister Santhosh Lad also hit out, ridiculing claims that water supply to Pakistan had been cut off, noting, “They’re still drinking water there.” He questioned the BJP’s handling of security breaches, pointing out how authorities only began house searches after the tragedy despite prior intelligence.
Further targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Lad mocked claims about drone usage for agriculture, asking, “Why weren’t drones used for border surveillance instead?” He sarcastically referred to Modi’s mischaracterization of Artificial Intelligence (AI) as “AAI,” implying a lack of seriousness in addressing national security needs.
Lad concluded by highlighting the slow military response, noting it took two hours for forces to arrive despite the proximity of Air Force divisions and helicopters, sharply questioning why security lapses aren’t being scrutinized more vigorously.
