Lucknow: A woman who objected to being harassed, was stripped naked, chased and assaulted by a group of miscreants in Uttar Pradesh’s Bhadohi district, around 7 PM on Saturday, December 29.
The incident, which took place in the Raipuri village under Gopiganj police station limits, was caught on camera and is being shared widely on social media.
According to reports, the woman objected to be eve-teased by a group of miscreants. Enraged by this they tore her clothes and mercilessly assaulted her while chasing her on the streets, and nobody came to her rescue.
Some sections of the media claim that police officials tried to hush up the matter but were forced to initiate an investigation after a video of the assault went viral on social media and the woman approached local leader, Sapna Dubey.
Senior superintendent of police (SSP), Dr Sanjay Kumar said that a case has been registered against the accused, who are yet to be identified, and also added that those found guilty will be brought to justice.
