Mumbai: In a tragic incident, the dead body of the missing Vice-President of HDFC bank has been found in Mumbai’s Kalyan area on Monday morning, merely a day after a man was nabbed by the police on suspicion of abduction and murder.

Siddharth Sanghavi, a resident of the Malabar Hill area in South Mumbai, was last seen on September 5 when he left for work around 8.30 am. His wife had approached the NM Joshi Marg police station when Sanghavi did not return home that night.

Following this, Sanghavi’s car, a blue Maruti Ignis, was found by the police near Sector 11 in Airoli, Navi Mumbai, on Saturday and reportedly, a knife and blood stains were found on the rear seat of the car.

During the course of their investigation, police took a look at the CCTV footage from Sanghavi’s office in Kamala Mills, where he was seen leaving at 7.30 pm. However, there was no sign of his car leaving the office premises.

On Sunday, the police arrested Sarfaraz Shaik on charges of abducting and murdering the banker and it is believed that Shaik has confessed to the crime. However, the 20-year-old accused, who is a driver by profession, has said that he was hired by someone to execute the crime.

The motive, however, is under investigation, but sources say that the police suspect that Sanghavi’s colleagues had a strong role in the murder.
