New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on May 12, announced India’s biggest ever economic stimulus, which has been dubbed as ‘Atma Nirbhar Bharat Abhiyan’. The economic package adds up to Rs 20,00,000 crore, which would roughly be 10 per cent of India’s GDP.
In fact, it equals Pakistan’s GDP! At $266 billion, the stimulus package (in dollars) is higher than the GDP of 149 countries including that of Vietnam, Portugal, Greece, New Zealand and Romania. It also almost equals the annual GDP of Pakistan, which is $284 billion.
The huge stimulus package is also twice the wealth of the 10 top billionaires! According to the Bloomberg Billionaire’s index, the 10 top wealthiest Indians have fortunes that are valued at $147 billion based on the latest closing prices. The economic package announced by the PM is 1.8 times bigger than that.
It is even five times more than the personal wealth of popular Indian billionaire Mukesh Ambani.
