Mumbai Police have dispelled rumors circulating on WhatsApp that claim Goa, the pet dog of the late Ratan Tata, passed away shortly after the industrialist’s demise on October 9. Senior Inspector Sudhir Kudalkar confirmed that Goa is alive and well, addressing the widespread misinformation.

Ratan Tata, the esteemed chairman emeritus of Tata Sons, passed away at the age of 86 after a brief hospitalization. Amidst his passing, false messages emerged asserting that Goa died three days later. However, these claims have been firmly denied by the authorities.

Goa, a cherished member of the Tata Group’s office at Bombay House, was known as Ratan Tata’s favorite among the stray dogs that frequented the premises. Contrary to the rumors, Goa was present at Ratan Tata’s funeral, participating in the Parsi ritual of Sagdid, where dogs are brought to view the deceased as a mark of respect.

Inspector Sudhir Kudalkar, recognized for his dedication to animal welfare and his compassionate work with stray animals, verified the well-being of Goa through Ratan Tata’s assistant, Shantanu Naidu. “I verified this with Shantanu Naidu, a close friend of Tata Ji, and he confirmed that Goa is doing fine,” Kudalkar stated in his Instagram post.

Kudalkar, stationed at the MHB Police Station in Borivali, is well-regarded for his efforts in caring for stray animals, earning recognition from organizations like PETA. He urged the public to exercise caution and verify information before believing and sharing WhatsApp forwards.

This clarification aims to put an end to the unfounded rumors and honor both Ratan Tata’s legacy and his beloved pet, Goa.
