Varangal: In a rare incident, a Muslim woman ended up performing last rites of a Hindu man after his son backed out from performing the religious rituals citing his change of religion as the reason.
It is said that Keerthi Sreenivas, a senior citizen was living in an old age home at Varangal in Telangana. He was suffering from health complication for a very long time. However, when he died on Thursday, the supervisor of the old age home named Yacoobi, a Muslim woman intimated his son Keerthi Sharath.
However, Keerthi Sharath refused to even be a part of the last rites stating that he had got converted to Christianity and hence he now shares no ties and bonds with his father.
In a bid to ensure dignity of death, Yacoobi performed all the rites as per Hindu traditions, keeping her religious affiliations and beliefs aside.
Yaccobi’s move has been lauded by various organisations.
