New Delhi: As student protests over the alleged NEET paper leak continued at Jantar Mantar in the national capital, a gesture of support from a man in Nagaland captured widespread attention on social media. Unable to join the demonstration in person, he ordered 150 pizzas worth Rs 67,734.18 and had them delivered to the protesting students.
The act of solidarity quickly went viral, with many social media users praising the gesture as a show of support for students participating in the ongoing protests.
Order placed from over 2,000 km away
The pizzas were reportedly ordered by Instagram user Zha-Lhou (@adiespoems) on July 22 at around 4.30 pm.
According to screenshots shared online, he chose a combination of Korean Sweet Chilli Cheese Burst pizzas with extra cheese and Farmhouse Cheese Burst pizzas instead of regular menu options.
The order was delivered to students gathered at Jantar Mantar, where demonstrations have been taking place over the alleged irregularities in the NEET examination.
Bill exceeded Rs 67,000
The bill shared on social media showed that the total value of the order amounted to Rs 67,734.18.
According to the receipt:
- Item total: Rs 64,650
- GST and packaging charges: Rs 3,227.28
- Coupon discount: Rs 200
- Total paid: Rs 67,734.18
Images of the order confirmation and the delivery receipt were widely circulated online, drawing appreciation from users across the country.
‘This was the least I could do’
In his Instagram post, Zha-Lhou explained that although he could not travel to Delhi, he wanted to support the students in his own way.
He wrote that he was in Nagaland while thousands of students were protesting far from home in Delhi for what they believed was a fairer education system and a better future.
He added that sending food was the least he could do to support them.
Zha-Lhou also shared that when the Domino’s delivery executive asked who should receive the pizzas, he requested that they be handed to any student who had not eaten.
Also donated biscuits
The Instagram user clarified that he was not sharing the incident to seek appreciation or recognition.
Instead, he said he hoped the gesture would encourage others to contribute in whatever way they could to help those participating in the protests.
Later, through his Instagram Stories, he revealed that he had also arranged biscuits worth Rs 5,000 for the students.
