Nagpur, Nandanvan: In an unexpected incident that has raised eyebrows across the city, three young women were caught on CCTV footage stealing a moped from the parking lot of DMart in Shrikrishna Nagar on Thursday.
The complaint was lodged by Veena Rajgire, who had arrived at the supermarket around noon on her Suzuki Access. She parked her vehicle and went in to shop. However, when she returned, the moped was gone.
After searching the nearby area in vain, she approached the Nandanvan Police Station, where officers reviewed CCTV footage from the DMart premises. Shockingly, the video showed three women arriving on another scooter, swiftly unlocking Veena’s moped and fleeing the spot within seconds. One of them rode away on the stolen vehicle, while the other two followed on theirs.
The Nandanvan police have launched an active investigation and are working to trace the culprits using the footage. Efforts are underway to track their routes, and nearby areas are being scanned for further evidence.
The police have also urged citizens to come forward if they witnessed the incident or have any clues about the suspects. Any useful information can be shared with the nearest police station.
This incident highlights a disturbing trend — while women are making strides in positive societal roles, authorities are seeing a rise in female involvement in crimes, prompting concerns and calls for awareness.
