The Namakkal City and Taluk Hotel Owners’ Association has issued a strong ultimatum to food delivery platforms like Swiggy and Zomato, warning that they will stop supplying food through these apps starting July 1 if commission issues aren’t addressed.

In a meeting held on Monday, presided over by association president Ramkumar, members unanimously passed a resolution demanding uniform and reasonable commissions. The association accused food delivery companies of deducting excessive charges, including advertising fees, delivery costs, and GST, drastically reducing hotel owners’ earnings.

“On a food order worth ₹10,000, we are receiving only around ₹4,000. The remaining amount goes to commissions and various hidden charges,” said Ramkumar. He also alleged non-transparent practices, with different restaurants being charged different commission rates.

The association has given the platforms until June 30 to open talks and resolve the matter. “If no resolution is reached, we will completely suspend food supply to all online platforms from July 1,” Ramkumar warned.
