Bathinda: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, called out AICC chief Rahul Gandhi, on Monday, for “pretending” to scold Congress leader Sam Pitroda regarding his comments on the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. He said that Rahul should be “ashamed” of himself.
It can be recalled that, while replying to a reporter’s query last Thursday, Indian Overseas Congress chief Pitroda had brushed off the 1984 anti-Sikh riots saying, “hua toh hua” (it just happened). He, however, tried to clarify that his words were twisted.
Referring to Pitrodia’s remark, Modi asked for how long the Congress planned to “rub salt into wounds” with remarks like this.
Addressing the gathering, Modi said, “Namdaar (dynast) should be ashamed of himself for failing to give justice to the 1984 riot victims.” He added that he would not spare those who were involved in the genocide.
The Prime Minister was in Bathinda to campaign for Union minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal, who is seeking to be re-elected on May 19, the last phase of the Lok Sabha elections.
