For 37 days, protests have spread across the nation following the rape and murder case at RG Kar Medical College in Kolkata. The epicenter of these protests is Kolkata, where demonstrations have been ongoing day and night, drawing people from various walks of life.
Among the protestors, a unique video has caught the attention of social media, featuring dancer and actor Mokksha Sengupta. In the video, she performs a powerful dance to a song by poet Kazi Nazrul Islam, conveying her outrage and sorrow. The performance took place in Santoshpur, South Kolkata, organized by an NGO on August 31. Since then, the video has gone viral.
Mokksha, a Bengali actor now working in South Indian cinema, shared in an interview that upon learning of the crime, she felt compelled to act. She returned to Kolkata from Hyderabad, where she had been attending a film release, to use her art as a form of protest. Through street performances, she expressed her solidarity and raised her voice against the crime.
The Supreme Court is set to hear the case on Tuesday, as the call for justice continues to grow.
