New Delhi: The new ministers in the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led Central Government were recently announced and while we saw the return of several ministers from the previous government, it was noticed that there were some new faces and that there were some that were absent. The netizens, however, took notice of the absence of one face in particular and were deeply saddened.

Minister of External Affairs, Sushma Swaraj (67), who was inducted into the Cabinet in 2014, was dropped from the new government as she had opted out for health reasons. Taking to Twitter one last time as the Minister of External Affairs, Sushma Swaraj thanked the Prime Minister for giving her the opportunity to serve resident and non-resident Indians for the last five years. “I pray to God that our government runs successfully,” she said in her tweet.

Her now viral heartful goodbye tweet broke several netizens’ hearts, hearts that she had won with her wit, prompt response, engagement and active presence on the micro-bogging site Twitter.

During her tenure, there were scores of stories of her outreach to struggling Indians across the globe and vice-versa. She became the first person anyone would think of when they were in dire need of help and nowhere else to go.

Her Twitter account has always been a joy to read as there were always heartening posts of timely responses to those in trouble.

Many netizens flooded her goodbye tweet and expressed their dismay at her departure from the Cabinet. They also thanked her for her service and wished her the best of luck for her future.

One Twitter user replied to Swaraj’s tweet saying, “The country will miss you in the cabinet . You brought in emotions and values to a ministry which always seemed so clinical!”

Another Twitter user asked for the former Union minister to at least continue tweeting.

Actress and filmmaker Soni Razdan tweeted, “You did so much good M’am. Those whom you have helped will never forget you. Those of us who read about your good deeds with admiration will always admire you. God Bless you.”

Even Daniel Carmon (@danielocarmon), Israel’s former Ambassador to India and SriLanka replied to the tweet saying, “I had the honor to be posted in #Delhi during your tenure at the head of @IndianDiplomacy,work with #MEA under your leadership during the unprecedented upgrade in our relations and accompany you in your visit to #ISRAEL. Thank you, Minister @SushmaSwaraj. God bless you. (sic)”

Let’s hope that the netizens get another leader as tech-savvy as, if not more than the former minister.
