New Delhi: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Sushma Swaraj has been replaced by S Jaishankar as the Minister for External Affairs (MEA). Jaishankar is an experienced diplomat and one of the longest serving foreign secretary. However, his appointment as the new MEA has come as a surprise to many. But it is not Jaishankar who has grabbed the attention of the people, but his son Dhruva Jaishankar.
Dhruva Jaishankar’s discourteous reply to a tweet in which he was requested to help with visa or passport, has raised eyeballs. Dhruva received the request after his father became the MEA. Responding to the tweet, Dhruva posted “Dude. Wrong Twitter.” He later posted, “And before anyone asks, I can absolutely not help anyone with their passport, visa, or getting-you-out-of-a-foreign-prison problems. I have plenty of those problems myself (other than the prisons-I try to stay clear of those).”
Sushma Swaraj who has been dropped from the cabinet is considered a charismatic MEA and also known as one of the most Twitter-friendly politicians. There will be a lot of expectations from S Jaishankar who has succeeded Sushma as the new MEA.
