A heart-wrenching incident occurred in Pahalgam, Kashmir, where 26 tourists lost their lives in a terror attack on Tuesday. Among the victims was 31-year-old Shubham Dwivedi, a resident of Chakeri in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. Shubham had embarked on a family vacation to Kashmir, just two months after marrying his wife, Eshanya.

According to his uncle, Manoj Dwivedi, the group of eleven family members had departed for Kashmir on April 17. On Tuesday afternoon, around 1 PM, Shubham and his wife left their hotel for a horse-riding excursion, while the rest of the group chose to stay back.

Tragically, during their outing, the couple was intercepted by armed militants. As per Manoj’s account, the assailants asked Eshanya about their relationship. Upon learning Shubham was her husband, they shot him dead in her presence, leaving her traumatized.

Manoj, still reeling from shock, said he received the devastating news via a phone call from Shubham’s father, Sanjay Dwivedi. The family’s joy-filled trip turned into a nightmare overnight.

Kanpur’s Deputy Commissioner of Police (East), Shrawan Kumar Singh, confirmed that Shubham worked for a cement firm and lived with his family. His cousin, Saurabh, recalled that the couple had tied the knot on February 13 this year. The family was scheduled to return home on Wednesday.

This incident raises serious concerns over the safety of tourists in conflict-prone areas.
