In a tragic turn of events, a 30-year-old man died by suicide inside SNR District Hospital in Kolar, merely hours after registering his marriage. The deceased, Harish Babu, hailed from Nayakarahalli in Kolar taluk and had been employed as a data entry operator at the hospital’s E-Hospital division for over ten years.

Earlier on Wednesday, Harish formalized his marriage at the Kolar sub-registrar’s office, accompanied by elders from both families. The bride, also a data entry operator from Gandhinagar, Kolar, was his colleague and long-time partner.

Following the registration, Harish reportedly returned to his village with his mother but later returned to the hospital, citing official work. That night, he is believed to have consumed alcohol and ended his life by hanging himself with a bandage cloth inside one of the hospital’s OPD rooms.

The incident came to light on Thursday morning, leaving hospital staff and locals in deep shock. Colleagues confirmed that the couple had been in a committed relationship for years. However, some sources claimed that Harish had shown signs of reluctance in the days leading up to the wedding.

According to family acquaintances, elders from both sides had met on July 1 near Kolar Railway Station to finalize the marriage, deciding on a formal registration now and religious rituals post the Ashada month. Despite this agreement, Harish appeared emotionally distressed after the event.

Police are investigating, suspecting mental pressure linked to the marriage may have been a factor.
