The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) will roll out the FASTag Annual Pass for private vehicles starting August 15, aiming to make highway travel faster and more cost-efficient for frequent users.
Under the plan, cars, jeeps, and vans can pay a one-time fee of ₹3,000 for up to 200 toll crossings or one year—whichever comes first. Linked to an active FASTag and the vehicle’s registration number, the pass will work only on toll plazas along national highways and expressways managed by NHAI and the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH).
Announced in June by Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari, the initiative seeks to address the inconvenience of closely spaced toll plazas and reduce payment delays. Benefits include avoiding repeated online recharges, shorter waits at tolls, fewer payment disputes, and a single payment covering an entire year or 200 trips.
How to Buy:
- Visit the Rajmarg Yatra app or NHAI/MoRTH website
- Log in with your vehicle number and FASTag ID
- Pay ₹3,000 via UPI, card, or net banking
- Pass will be linked to FASTag and activated from August 15
Key Rules:
- For private vehicles only
- Non-transferable; linked to one registered vehicle
- No auto-renewal—must reapply after expiry
- Not valid on state highways or municipal roads, such as the Mumbai–Pune Expressway or Agra–Lucknow Expressway
With this move, NHAI expects to enhance toll efficiency, improve traffic flow, and offer better value for frequent highway commuters.
