New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a supplementary chargesheet in connection with the 2026 Pahalgam terror attack, naming Hafiz Saeed as an accused for his alleged role in the conspiracy behind the deadly assault. The move marks a significant development in the ongoing investigation into one of the deadliest terror attacks in Jammu and Kashmir in recent years.

According to the supplementary chargesheet filed before the designated NIA court, Hafiz Saeed has been named both in his personal capacity and as the chief of the banned Pakistan-based terrorist organisation Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). The agency has also referred to The Resistance Front (TRF), widely regarded by Indian authorities as a proxy outfit of LeT, alleging its involvement in planning and executing the attack.

The supplementary chargesheet expands on the agency’s earlier findings and details what investigators describe as a cross-border terror conspiracy involving Pakistan-based operatives and local associates.

NIA alleges cross-border conspiracy

Hafiz Saeed named as LeT chief

In the supplementary chargesheet, the NIA has named Hafiz Saeed not only as an individual accused but also in his capacity as the head of Lashkar-e-Taiba, a terrorist organisation banned in India under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.

Indian security agencies have long accused Saeed of masterminding several terror attacks targeting India. The latest chargesheet adds the Pahalgam attack investigation to the list of cases in which he has been named by Indian authorities.
