Mukesh Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Industries, and Nita Ambani, founder and chairperson of Reliance Foundation, extended their warm congratulations to U.S. President-elect Donald Trump at a private reception ahead of his inauguration. During the event, the Ambanis expressed their hopes for strengthening India-U.S. relations during Trump’s upcoming second term.

Nita Ambani, in particular, made a striking appearance at the reception, showcasing her deep appreciation for India’s rich cultural heritage through her attire. Draped in a custom-designed Kanchipuram silk sari by Swadesh, she captured the essence of India’s artistic legacy. The sari featured over 100 intricate traditional motifs inspired by the grand temples of Kanchipuram, a hallmark of the region’s craftsmanship.

The sari, created by National Award-winning artisan B Krishnamoorthy, included symbolic motifs such as the Iruthalaipakshi (double-headed eagle of Lord Vishnu), Mayil (peacock symbolising immortality), and Sorgavasal (animal trails from Indian folklore). The vibrant silk was paired with a velvet blouse from designer Manish Malhotra, beautifully blending tradition with contemporary sophistication through delicate beadwork.

Nita Ambani further elevated her look with a stunning vintage heritage pendant from the 18th century, crafted in Southern India using the gold Kundan technique. The pendant, featuring a parrot-shaped design encrusted with rubies, emeralds, diamonds, and pearls, exemplified the timeless beauty of Indian jewelry.

The Ambanis’ appearance at the pre-swearing-in dinner was a memorable celebration of Indian heritage on a global stage.
