In light of heightened tensions between India and Pakistan, district in-charge minister Dinesh Gundu Rao issued a firm warning on Saturday against the spread of misinformation and fake news through social media. He declared that strict legal action would be taken against those attempting to incite unrest online.

At times like these, it’s vital to uplift the morale of our armed forces. On national issues, we must remain united, regardless of political leanings,” Rao said while addressing the media.

Regarding the murder of Suhas Shetty, the minister confirmed that police have arrested the key accused and are carrying out a thorough probe. When asked about the demand for an NIA investigation, he said, “The matter is under review. If BJP leaders possess credible evidence, they should submit it. The authorities will act accordingly. But the government won’t respond to baseless claims or assumptions.”

On the controversial statement by MLA Harish Poonja, Rao noted that an FIR has already been filed. “There’s no stay on the FIR. A responsible individual would never utter such crude remarks. His language reveals more about his character than anything else,” he remarked.

The minister emphasized that maintaining law and order is paramount and irresponsible rhetoric or divisive tactics will be met with appropriate action.
