Chennai: A heart-wrenching incident occurred in the Arumbakkam locality of Chennai, where an 80-year-old man named Subramanian tragically lost his life after being mauled by two stray dogs while he was sleeping in his home. Subramanian, a bachelor, lived alone at his nephew’s residence in the area. The attack happened late on Tuesday night, when neighbors reportedly heard the elderly man crying in pain and the dogs barking aggressively. Alarmed by the noise, the neighbors rushed to Subramanian’s house, only to find the two stray dogs attacking him as he lay defenseless.

In a courageous effort, the residents managed to chase the dogs away, rescuing Subramanian from further harm. He was immediately rushed to the Kilpauk Medical College (KMC) Hospital, where he was treated for severe injuries sustained during the attack. Unfortunately, despite the best efforts of the medical staff, Subramanian succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday.

The elderly man’s tragic death has shocked the community, as Subramanian had been living alone and relied on his neighbors for support. The Arumbakkam Police have registered a case in connection with the incident. Authorities are investigating how the stray dogs managed to enter the house and why they attacked the elderly man.

The incident has brought attention to the growing concerns over stray dog attacks in urban areas, prompting local authorities to consider more stringent measures for controlling the stray dog population.
