Odisha: In a deeply concerning development from Malkangiri district, Odisha, a minor girl experienced a traumatic sequence of events after returning from a friend’s birthday celebration. She was reportedly taken to a remote forested area by three individuals, where she was mistreated. Displaying courage, she managed to free herself but unfortunately encountered further trouble when a truck driver offered help and then allegedly acted inappropriately.
Her family, alarmed by her absence, filed a missing person’s report at Malkangiri Adarsh Police Station. Later, some local residents noticed the girl in an uncomfortable state near Bija Ghat on NH-326, along with the driver. Authorities responded swiftly, rescuing the minor and taking the man into custody.
The driver has been identified as Shubham Singh (26) from Madhya Pradesh. The truck, en route to Jeypore in Koraput, was carrying cement and has since been impounded. The girl is now under care at a shelter home as officials work to reconstruct the timeline of the incident.
In a separate report from Jajpur district, a 15-year-old trainee athlete filed a complaint against her coach and two others. She stated that while returning home on July 3, she was taken to a lodge where she was harassed. Authorities acted quickly, detaining four individuals. Three have been arrested — including her current and two former coaches.
According to police, investigations in both cases are ongoing, and support is being extended to the affected minors.
