Faridabad: A one-year-old boy died after accidentally falling into a water-filled bucket while playing at his home in Jeevan Nagar Part-2, Faridabad, leaving his family devastated.
Silence alerts family to tragedy
The child, identified as Aryan, was playing on the terrace while family members were occupied with household work. His mother was working in another room, while his father was away at work.
According to the child’s grandmother, the family became worried when they stopped hearing the toddler’s voice. On checking outside, they found him inside a bucket of water kept near the bathroom.
The family immediately took the child to a government hospital. He was subsequently referred to another facility, but doctors at a private hospital later declared him dead.
Police await post-mortem report
Police reached the spot after being informed about the incident. The child’s body was kept at the mortuary of ESIC Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem examination.
A senior police officer said further action would be taken based on the post-mortem findings. The Mujesar police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
The incident is a painful reminder that containers holding even relatively small amounts of water can pose a serious drowning risk to young children. Toddlers can fall into buckets headfirst and may be unable to lift themselves out, making close supervision and keeping water containers empty or securely covered particularly important.
