India’s military response to the Pahalgam terror attack — Operation Sindoor — now carries not just strategic weight but an emotional and symbolic identity, reflected in its striking new logo designed by two Indian Army personnel.
The emblem, featured prominently in the May edition of the Army’s magazine Baatcheet, was crafted by Lt Col Harsh Gupta and Havildar Surinder Singh. It captures national grief and resilience — with a bowl of sindoor forming the first “O” and a symbolic smear of the red powder around the second, paying tribute to the women who lost their partners in the April 22 massacre.
The cover page of Baatcheet showcases the logo beneath the Indian Army crest, lending both gravity and pride to the operation’s visual identity. The publication includes poignant images from the aftermath of the brutal attack, showing coffins, grieving families, and the raw emotion of loss — particularly from the Baisaran Valley incident, where 26 civilians were murdered by five terrorists.
The magazine also features a key moment from the operation — a photograph of Army Chief Gen Upendra Dwivedi overseeing mission details in the early hours of May 7, timestamped at 01:05 AM.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh recently revealed that it was Prime Minister Narendra Modi who named the operation. “You finished the mission in the time it takes to eat breakfast,” he said, lauding the IAF’s 23-minute strike that decimated terror camps in Pakistan.
