Odisha: A horrifying and tragic incident has come to light in Odisha‘s Kandhamal district, where a man, along with four friends, is accused of raping and murdering his own sister. The shocking crime transpired on November 3, leading to the arrest of the man and his accomplices.
The police report reveals that the 25-year-old victim discovered her brother’s illicit relationship with his sister-in-law and confronted him, warning to expose their affair. In a chilling response to his sister’s threat, the brother allegedly devised a sinister plan to brutally end her life.
On the fateful day, as the woman went to a nearby forest to collect Siali leaves, her elder brother, coincidentally present with his cattle, seized the opportunity for revenge. He called his four friends to the forest, where, in a drunken state, they took turns raping her. Despite her resistance, the assailants strangled her and brutally attacked her with an axe, resulting in her immediate death, according to Lalit Mohan Sagar, the inspector-in-charge of Chakapad police station.
In an attempt to evade suspicion, the brother filed a missing person report on November 6. However, during the investigation, the police discovered the decomposed body of a woman in the forest on November 7. A post-mortem examination revealed that the victim had been sexually assaulted by multiple individuals before being ruthlessly murdered. The brother and his friends are now facing charges related to rape and murder.
