A shocking incident has surfaced from Coimbatore where a private school reportedly forced a Class 8 student to sit outside the classroom while writing her examination, allegedly due to her menstruation. A viral video of the incident shows the girl sitting on a staircase in isolation, highlighting the discriminatory treatment.

According to the student’s parents, they had specifically requested the school to arrange for a separate sitting space to accommodate her during the exam. Despite their request, the school did not provide an alternate arrangement, leaving the girl in an isolated spot.

The student in the video can be heard explaining that the principal directed her to sit outside, adding that this was not the first instance of such treatment. The incident has sparked public outrage, especially since the girl is reportedly from a Dalit community.

In response to the backlash, the Tamil Nadu education minister Anbil Mahesh confirmed that the school principal has been suspended. The education department has also demanded an explanation from the school management, calling for an immediate departmental inquiry. The minister emphasized that oppression of children in any form will not be tolerated.

The incident has raised significant concerns about discrimination and gender bias in schools, with authorities assuring action to prevent such incidents in the future.
