Wing Commander Abhinandan Vathaman is a face of heroism for Indians. However, Pakistan has stooped low to the extent of making a mockery out of Indian hero in its latest World Cup advertisement. The advert, which mimics Abhinandan also reeks of racism to a large extent.
Abhinandan was flying a MiG-21 when he crossed over into Pakistani territory while involved in an aerial fight with Pakistan, after the airstrikes conducted by India in Pakistan’s Balakot. Pakistan had released a video showing him calmly answering the questions shot by the Pakistani security forces while sipping on a mug of tea.
Now, the same video has been spoofed by the Pakistani Jazz TV and this has left Indian irked.
“I am sorry, I am not supposed to tell you this,” was the reply that Abhinandan gave to most of the questions shot at him by the Pakistani security forces. However, the television released an advert to create hype around the World Cup clash between India and Pakistan on June 16. Making a spoof out of Wing Commander Abhinandan, the ad shows a model who is made to look like Abhinandan with his trademark moustache in a Blue jersey, holding the ‘tea cup’ in his hand, answering questions on camera. The model has his face painted brown to specifically taunt at the skin colour of Indians, which was unnecessary, considering the fact that Abhinandan’s trademark moustache has become very famous!
At the end of the video, taking a dig the model, a person behind the camera says, “Chalo you can leave now, but ek second ruko cup kaha leke jaa rahe ho?”
Let’s get the cup back, says the advert.
While most Indians have found the advert to be offensive and in bad taste, a new ‘Mauka Mauka’ advertisement has been created to mock Pakistan and its poor record against India in the ICC events.
The video shows actor Vikas Malhotra, who plays the Pakistani son remembering his father’s words on how one should keep trying and never give up. The Indian fan in the ad uses the opportunity and says ‘Maine Aisa Kab Kaha?’ taking the ‘baap’ dig.
