Pakistani nationals leave India following severed diplomatic ties
Following the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam, which claimed the lives of 26 men, the Indian government made the decision to sever all diplomatic ties with Pakistan, including revoking visas for Pakistani nationals residing in India. As a result, 786 Pakistani nationals have left India via the Attari border in the six days following April 24, according to an official.
One such individual, Osama, shared his distress as he prepared to leave. Having lived in India for 17 years, he had been studying for a bachelor’s degree and was hoping to attend job interviews after his exams. Osama expressed his uncertainty about the future, emphasizing that he had cast his vote in India and even held a ration card.
“I have lived here for 17 years, completed my Class 10 and 12 education, and had plans to start my career. I condemn the Pahalgam attack—it was a shameful act. But now, what will I do in Pakistan? What future do I have there?” he asked, appealing for more time to settle his affairs.
