New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi changed his Twitter handle to ‘Chowkidar Narendra Modi’ after encouraging his followers to take up the #MainBhiChowkidar pledge against corruption. Soon after, BJP national president Amit Shah and other party leaders such as Ravi Shankar Prasad, Piyush Goyal, JP Nadda, Amit Malviya, Tajinder Bagga and others did the same.
“Your Chowkidar is standing firm & serving the nation. But, I am not alone. Everyone who is fighting corruption, dirt, social evils is a Chowkidar.
Everyone working hard for the progress of India is a Chowkidar. Today, every Indian is saying-#MainBhiChowkidar,” the Prime Minister tweeted on Saturday. Through this campaign, the PM urged the people to fight against corruption and other social evils. Attached to the tweet was a video, calling on the people to join him during a ‘Main Bhi Chowkidar’ video programme on March 31 at 6 PM.
This campaign is said to be a possible counter to AICC president Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Chowkidar Chor Hai’ jibe at the PM.
