Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday extended his greetings to the people of Kerala on Onam, the harvest festival celebrated with grandeur across the state.
Onam celebrates heritage and harmony
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), PM Modi wrote:
“Wishing everyone a very happy Onam! May this beautiful festival bring renewed joy, good health and abundant prosperity to all. Onam reflects the timeless heritage and rich traditions of Kerala.”
He further added, “This festival is a symbol of unity, hope and cultural pride. May this occasion strengthen the spirit of harmony in our society and deepen our connection with nature.”
Onam, observed during the Malayalam month of Chingam, marks the harvest season and is celebrated with elaborate feasts, traditional dances, boat races, and floral decorations known as Pookalam. It is a time for families and communities to come together, showcasing Kerala’s rich cultural heritage.
PM Modi’s message highlights the festival as not just a cultural celebration, but also a reminder of social unity, hope, and prosperity.
