New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday extended greetings to citizens across the country and abroad on the second anniversary of the Pran Pratishtha of Ram Lalla, describing the occasion as a “divine festival of faith and traditions” and a moment of deep spiritual significance for millions of devotees.

In a message shared on social media platform X, the Prime Minister said the anniversary symbolises the fulfilment of a centuries-old resolve cherished by countless Ram devotees. He noted that the consecration of Ram Lalla in a grand temple stands as a testament to devotion, perseverance and collective faith.

“Today, the second anniversary of the Pran Pratishtha of Ram Lalla is being celebrated on the sacred land of Ayodhya Ji. This anniversary is a divine festival of our faith and traditions. On this holy and pure occasion, from the side of all Ram devotees of the country and abroad, my crores of salutations and obeisance at the feet of Lord Shri Ram,” PM Modi said in his post.

‘Dharma dhwaja’ witnessing the anniversary for the first time

The Prime Minister highlighted that this year’s celebrations hold special significance as it is the first time the ‘dharma dhwaja’—the sacred flag symbolising righteousness—has borne witness to the anniversary of the Pran Pratishtha. The flag was ceremonially hoisted last month as part of ongoing religious observances linked to the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple.

“By the boundless grace and blessings of Lord Shri Ram, the five-century-old resolve of countless Ram devotees has been fulfilled. Today, Ram Lalla is once again enshrined in his magnificent abode, and this year, Ayodhya’s flag of dharma is bearing witness to the consecration of Ram Lalla on the twelfth day,” he said.

PM Modi recalled that he had the opportunity to participate personally in the sacred installation of the dharma dhwaja last month, calling it a moment of profound spiritual fortune in his life.

Message of values and nation-building

Emphasising the broader social and national message of Lord Ram’s life and ideals, the Prime Minister expressed hope that the inspiration drawn from Maryada Purushottam Shri Ram would strengthen values of service, dedication and compassion among citizens.

“I wish that the inspiration of the epitome of propriety may deepen the sentiment of service, dedication and compassion in the heart of every citizen, which also becomes a strong foundation for building a prosperous and self-reliant India,” he said.

Observers note that the Prime Minister’s remarks underline the government’s emphasis on linking cultural and spiritual heritage with national development and social harmony.

Leaders offer prayers on Pratishtha Dwadashi

Meanwhile, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath offered prayers at the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple on the occasion of Pratishtha Dwadashi and the second anniversary of the Pran Pratishtha ceremony.

The two leaders also participated in other religious observances, including hoisting the flag at the Annapurna Temple and offering prayers at the historic Hanumangarhi Temple. Their presence marked the importance of the occasion at both the spiritual and administrative levels.

Significance of the Pran Pratishtha ceremony

The Ram Lalla idol was formally unveiled on January 22, 2024, during the Pran Pratishtha ceremony, which involved elaborate Vedic rituals lasting several hours. Prime Minister Modi had led the consecration ceremony in the presence of saints, seers and dignitaries from across the country.

Since then, the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple has emerged as one of the most visited religious sites in India, attracting devotees in large numbers throughout the year.

Rituals and celebrations continue

As part of the second anniversary celebrations, a series of Yajna ceremonies were conducted at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir. These included Tattva Kalash, Tattva Homa, Manyu Sukta Homa, Ram Taraka Mantra Homa and other sacred rites performed by priests according to traditional scriptures.

Temple authorities said the rituals were aimed at invoking peace, prosperity and spiritual well-being for devotees and the nation.

Ayodhya’s growing spiritual prominence

The second anniversary of the Pran Pratishtha has further strengthened Ayodhya’s position as a major spiritual and cultural centre. With the New Year beginning, devotees have continued to throng the holy city to seek blessings, contributing to a surge in religious tourism and related economic activity.

Conclusion

The second anniversary of the Pran Pratishtha of Ram Lalla stands as a landmark moment in India’s spiritual journey, symbolising faith, fulfilment and continuity of tradition. As leaders and devotees alike mark the occasion, the message of unity, righteousness and service associated with Lord Ram continues to resonate across the country.
